Maarten de Schutter (1999) (they/them) is a Dutch-Iranian filmmaker. In 2024 they graduated from the Filmacademie (NFA, Amsterdam), studying Directing Documentary. They love leftist cinema and play as a midfielder or goalkeeper. Maarten also works as an editor and film producer, including self-distribution.

In 2025 their first feature documentary My Sweet Child was released, which was nominated for a Golden Calf at the Nederlands Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at Docudays in Kyiv. Produced and distributed independently, My Sweet Child is an attempt to reconstruct the lost memories of their mother, AIDS activist and feminist anthropologist Martine de Schutter. The film won multiple awards at film festivals such as GAZE Dublin and Queer Lisboa.
